Behind on your tax filings or missing some documents? No worries. Each year, we help numerous clients get back on track, even managing 5 to 10 years of back taxes. Our Process Explained

We have optimized the personal tax return process to be efficient and time-saving. Rather than scheduling appointments, we utilize a detailed intake form that expedites the preparation of your return, eliminating the need for you to wait in our office.

For complex tax situations—such as those involving business ownership, investments, or other special circumstances—we will assess whether an in-person consultation is necessary.

You can submit your tax information either during regular business hours or securely via our client portal. (To set up your account, please contact our office by phone or email.)

It is essential for us to be informed of any personal life changes, such as the birth of a child, changes in marital status, a new job, or starting a side business. Please include details of such changes in your file for our review during the tax preparation process.

Typically, the turnaround time for tax returns is 3-4 days, although this may vary depending on the volume of submissions we handle.

Should you require your return by a specific date, please notify us when you drop off your documents. We strive to meet all deadlines, but be aware that rush fees may apply under tight time constraints.

Once your tax return is prepared, we will contact you. You may then choose to pick it up at our office or receive a PDF copy via our secure client portal once the final invoice is paid. Please note, we do not send tax returns via email.

Payment is required upon completion of the return, prior to the release of any details. We will inform you of any balance due or refund available, and discuss the payment options with you.

We electronically file all personal tax returns unless they are over 5 years overdue or the CRA requires a paper filing due to specific circumstances. These exceptions are dictated by CRA regulations and are beyond our control.

Before we can proceed with filing your return, you must sign the T183 form (Information Return for Electronic Filing of an Individual’s Income Tax and Benefit Return). We recommend not signing any tax return until you are completely satisfied and all your questions have been addressed, as amending a filed return is often more complicated and costly than adjusting one before it's filed. After you have settled our invoice, we will release your tax return for your review, which you can conduct either at our office or at your convenience at home.

We encourage you to ask any questions you might have and are ready to revisit any aspects of your return that may need further clarification. Simple inquiries are typically answered immediately, while more complex ones may require a scheduled consultation with one of our accountants.

While we cannot change the outcome of your tax filing, our goal is to ensure you are fully satisfied and understand the results of your tax return.

Please visit our Forms page to download our Personal Tax Checklist, which will help you gather all necessary information for us to optimally prepare your return. You will also find our Personal Intake Form and T1013 (CRA Authorization form) available for download. Completing these forms in advance helps ensure that we work with accurate and complete information.

For those with more complex tax scenarios, or if you have questions about specific deductions, we provide additional checklists:

  • Moving Expense Checklist
  • Rental Property Checklist
  • Small or Home-Based Business Checklist

If you are self-employed or a contract worker with a T2200 from your employer, please use our Business & Employment Expense summary to provide your expense details for tax preparation.
