Our Streamlined Tax Return Process

We've refined the personal tax return process to be both time-efficient and straightforward. Instead of requiring appointments, we use a comprehensive intake form that speeds up the preparation of your return, eliminating unnecessary waiting in our office.

For complex tax scenarios—such as business ownership, investments, or other unique circumstances—we'll evaluate the need for an in-person consultation.

You can submit your tax information during regular office hours or securely through our client portal. (To set up your account, please reach out to our office via phone or email.)

It's crucial that you keep us informed of any significant personal changes, such as the birth of a child, marital status changes, a new job, or the start of a side business. Please provide details of these changes in your file for our review during the tax preparation process.

The typical turnaround time for tax returns is 3-4 days, though this can vary with the volume of submissions we receive.

If you need your return by a specific date, inform us when you submit your documents. We endeavor to meet all deadlines, but please note that rush fees may be applicable for tight timelines.

Upon completion of your tax return, we will contact you. You can then choose to collect it from our office or receive a PDF copy via our secure client portal after the final invoice has been settled. Please note that we do not issue tax returns via email.

Payment is due upon completion of the return, before any details are released. We will inform you of any balance due or refund available, and discuss the available payment options with you.

We file all personal tax returns electronically unless they are over 5 years overdue or the CRA mandates a paper filing due to specific circumstances. These requirements are set by CRA regulations and are out of our control.

Before we file your return, you need to sign the T183 form (Information Return for Electronic Filing of an Individual’s Income Tax and Benefit Return). We advise you not to sign the tax return until you are fully satisfied and all your questions have been answered, as correcting a return after it has been filed is generally more difficult and costly than making adjustments beforehand. Once our invoice is settled, we will release your tax return for your review, which you can conduct at our office or comfortably at your home.

We welcome any questions you have and are prepared to address any concerns or clarify any aspects of your return. Immediate responses are available for simple questions, while more complex issues may require a scheduled meeting with one of our accountants.

While we cannot alter the final outcome of your tax filing, ensuring your complete satisfaction and understanding of the tax return results is our priority.

Please visit our Forms page to download our Personal Tax Checklist, which will assist you in gathering all the necessary information for the optimal preparation of your return. Our Personal Intake Form and T1013 (CRA Authorization form) are also available for download. Completing these forms beforehand ensures we have accurate and comprehensive information.

For those with more complex tax situations or specific deduction queries, we offer additional checklists:

  • Moving Expense Checklist
  • Rental Property Checklist
  • Small or Home-Based Business Checklist

If you are self-employed or a contract worker with a T2200 from your employer, please use our Business & Employment Expense summary to provide your expense details for tax preparation purposes.
